On a warm May evening, I jumped out of a taxi on the station square and rushed to the platform. Our train was leaving in ten minutes. Having managed to buy cigarettes on the way, I grabbed Lena, who was waiting for me near the carriage, by the hand and we tumbled into the compartment, plopping down on the seats. The train departed. There was no one else in the compartment except us and we were glad of this circumstance.
